Bringing a 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB+ Back to Form

The 2023 Mercedes EQB+ is a beautifully engineered SUV. It’s electric, efficient, and unmistakably Mercedes. But when this one rolled into my bay, it had lost that refined edge that defines luxury.

From a distance, it looked fine. Up close, it told a different story.

The exterior carried the film and grime that come with everyday driving in the Pacific Northwest, but the real issue was inside. The cabin was full of dust, crumbs, and dirt in every crevice, door pockets, cup holders, under seat rails, and the vents. You could tell life had been lived in it. Nothing terrible, just the kind of build-up that slowly dulls the experience of owning a great vehicle.

The owner summed it up best:

“It drives like a Mercedes, but it doesn’t feel like one anymore.”

That’s where my work began.

The Assessment

Before touching a tool, I took a slow walk around the vehicle, inside and out. I looked at how the light moved across the panels, checked for surface contamination, and noted where road film had settled.

Inside, I moved through the car section by section. Dust had coated the piano-black trim, crumbs were packed along the seams of the console, and debris had worked its way deep into the carpet fibers.

It wasn’t neglect though, it was everyday life. And that’s exactly what professional detailing is meant to reverse. My goal was simple: to restore that sense of luxury that a Mercedes cabin should always have.

Getting It Done Right the First Time

Every project I take on follows a deliberate process. Nothing rushed, nothing improvised. Just precision, experience, and patience.

1. Pre-Wash & Foam Bath

I started with a pH-balanced foam to lift away surface grime. It clings to the paint, breaking down dirt safely before any contact wash begins. That step alone prevents the fine scratches and swirl marks you often see from automatic washes.

2. Contact Wash & Rinse

Using filtered water, fresh microfiber mitts, and the two-bucket method, I worked the EQB+ panel by panel. The charge port, cameras, and lower grille openings got extra attention—these areas collect dust and film quickly on EVs.

3. Wheel & Tire Detailing

The AMG wheels had lost some of their luster. I used non-acidic wheel cleaner and detail brushes to clear away brake dust, restoring that clean, satin metallic finish Mercedes is known for.

4. Interior Deep Clean

This was the heart of the job. I vacuumed every inch of the interior, pulling dirt from under the seats and out of the tracks. The vents and seams were air-blown and brushed clean before vacuuming again.

From there, I hand-cleaned each surface using dedicated products for leather, Alcantara, and soft-touch plastics. The goal is purity. Each surface should look and feel like new, not treated.

When I was finished, there wasn’t a crumb, fingerprint, or speck of dust left. The car smelled fresh, clean, and balanced. Exactly the way a Mercedes cabin should.

5. Final Touches

I polished the glass, refined the trim, and completed a full inspection under proper lighting. When I stepped back, the black paint looked deep and wet, and the interior felt calm again.

The Result

When the owner arrived, I handed him the key and let the car speak for itself.

He stepped inside, looked around slowly, and said,

“It feels brand new again.”

That’s the moment I aim for every time. Detailing isn’t just about making something look better—it’s about helping the owner reconnect with their car. It’s restoring that feeling of pride, comfort, and satisfaction that only comes when every surface, seam, and reflection is right.

Why Professional Detailing Matters

Even brand-new vehicles need real detailing. Dirt and debris collect fast, and shortcuts from automated washes or quick services can leave behind residue that dulls surfaces and wears down materials over time.

Proper detailing removes what doesn’t belong and protects what does. It preserves paint, protects materials, and keeps your car looking its best for years, not months.

It’s not about vanity—it’s about stewardship.

Precision. Protection. Perfection.

After 25 years in the craft, one thing hasn’t changed: excellence comes from attention to detail. Every vehicle that enters my care is treated as if it were my own.

This EQB+ left my shop with a new sense of clarity—inside and out. The reflections were sharper, the air felt cleaner, and the owner drove away with that quiet satisfaction that comes from knowing the job was done right the first time.
